Which is better, a bike with a carborator or with fuel injection?

as far as I know, It all depends on the conditions........

from what I hear, a lot of fuel injected bikes are a little jumpy on low end which wouldnt be the greatest thing for a new rider.....

But I also hear they are nicer in colder climates than dealing with carbs, and that they are easier to mantain reliability with.

Fuel Injection is more efficient... but if I were to break down on the side of the highway with a fueling problem I would much rather have carbs.

We may not have a choice in the future any way since carbs are not emissions friendly, though they can be pretty smooth when riding but FI has come a long way after many refinements. With FI you don't have to pull a choke lever and wait for the engine to warm up, it goes into fast idle then drops when the engine reaches its operating temperature.

Both require some sort of cleaning as well.

Strictly from a "feel" perspective, a bike with carbs has a nice "classic" feeling to it. It's pretty cool to have to work the choke and warm your bike up, a little more hands on.

But then with FI, just push the button and she fires up like something out of the future. Which is also nice in its own way.

I love being able to drive off on a cold winter morning and not have to wait till the bike warms up. On the other hand, I have to be very careful not to run low on fuel. I like the FI!
