how difficult is it to:
A: find new plastics for my bike, the ones on it are faded.
B:remove and replace them
I work with my hands so I'm tool savy.
Also my gas tank has a few dings and a dent in it, would I be better off replacing it with a new one(bike bandit has them) or having my tank repaired?
Or am I better off trading it in for the v strom 650 I want?

When your plastics get faded, you don't replace them, you paint them. When your clothes get dirty do you buy new ones?

The plastics are pretty easy to remove. the main side plates snap off without tools, and the rest come off pretty easily with basic tools.

Can't say about the fuel tank. It's usually difficult to find someone that can properly fix one. On that score, you might want to look for a used one from one of the big bike salvage yards. The Nighthawk was unchanged from '91-'03, so any of those years would be a direct replacement.
