Tell me, do you think if I punched a Sea Gull, would it die?

Looking for some expert opinions.

TIA

It, uhhhh..

Hmm.

It depends on how hard you punch it..?

Nope. My mom's bf and his son have pelted them with a pair of tipman's on a deep sea fishing trip. Between those two and the captain, they burned off a case of balls, and not a single seagull waivered from going after bait.

Though if you like, held it on the ground and punched straight down on it, then yeah, i'd expect their head to pop or something.

I've gotten hit by a thousand paintballs.

I've also been punched.

I'd rather have gotten hit by another thousand paintballs, all in a row.

Hmm. How hard do you think I need to punch it? Is there some test I can perform to see how hard before actually testing it on a Sea Gull?

So Geoff, you're saying I should throw a paintball gun at it?

 exactly

:squint:

Well, there was a chart mythbusters used once to determine how much force a projectile would need to take down different sized game, and how much force different projectiles had and stuff. If you could find that chart, and meausure how much PSI your punches have, then you could determine if they're strong enough to take out a seagull, which i'd assume classifies as small game (or tiny, if this were D&D). +1 Seagull Punching Gloves of Power ftw!

Well, I'd say that punching would *not* be the preferred method for seagull slaughter, and that every seagull will have a wildly different tolerance to said trauma, just like people do.

There is probably a specific punching speed for your given body/fist that would result in a 90% mortality rate for the seagulls, but the only way to determine that is experimentally.

Is it sufficient for the punch to merely incapacitate the seagull so that it will surely die on its own in time, or to cause internal injuries sufficient to cause death at some point in the future?

Unfortunately at this time what we're looking for is nothing short of instant death within a few milliseconds of impact.

<black humor>
Why punch when a little bit of alka-seltzer will go a long way?

I'd proffer that punching is far from the ideal method. There are... superior ways ;)
