I'm going to be buying my first bike soon, and one of my big concerns is where I'm going to park the bike over Night, and when the weather is too harsh to ride.(I live in Oregon. It rains quite a bit here, and it snows once or twice a year.)

But I'm not sure if something like that is really sufficient and I'd like to hear from some people who've had this problem as well and might have some suggestions..

i have seen them before they look ok...i think for the money u can build something better lol but thats just me...also the u store it places arent bad depending on areas for the price i stored mine in there for under 100 for 3 months....

Maybe a admin or mod (someone with the experience and can write it for the avg person) can create a good sticky post for this upcoming topic as more and more people will be asking the same questions.

In a perfect world:
Going into storage. Covering specific sport/cruisers/touring/dual sport issues, single and multiple cylinder engines, 2 and four cycle engines, air/liquid cooled, tire/battery protection, oil suggestions, covers and storage, fall cleaning and annual greasing or maintenance (bulb/wiring checks).

Coming out of storage. Correctly bringing the bike back to life in the spring.

Just to name some points, in my opinion.

I think I may not have been quite clear enough in my post..

I'm referring to storing a bike for the night or a day or two, not storing it for the winter. Since I don't have a garage, I wouldn't really want to leave it sitting in front of my house during a 12 hour rain storm. I was thinking of just some sort of secure contained parking arrangement that would keep out the elements...

At this point it's seeming like building some sort of tool shed type arrangement would be the best Idea. The temporary shelters I've linked to above seem just a little bit flimsy..

There are plenty of waterproof bike covers out there as well if you don't want to build your own structure.

We have a Bike Barn and have stored a bike in it over the winter - it did fine. Have it on a floor and make sure the frame is secured to the floor, you're good to go.

The Bike Barn was a little expensive and something more permanent would do for the money. But for us, "more permanent" wasn't what we needed.

I would have thought that just a waterproof cover would be fine. They tie down, so if they're going to be blown away by any storm, then the storm would need to be savage enough to blow your bike away too!

I keep my bike outside with a cover on it every night...we have had several bad storms this year, and its fine!

Where in Oregon? I lived in Portland for awhile, love it there!! It does rain like 300 days a year though, ack.
