Which is best

My wife and I just got our learners, next the safty course then the bikes, we are still not sure what we want (we will each get our own bike). So which is best, of the following: Honda VLX, Kawasaki Vulcan 500, Suzuki Boulevard S40, or the Yamaha Vulcan 500. We will be riding mostly local country roads with the occasional highway. Oh, by the way we live near gettysburg, PA, last weekend was a bike rally of some where around 25,000 bikes, and we could not go, AAAGGGHHHH!

Have you sat on any of the bikes you mentioned? Fit matters.

to expand on what lunchmeat posted... y'all need to go sit on the bikes. it's possible that you and your wife will get completely different bikes because the kawi might fit you and the honda might fit her. all the bikes you mentioned (minus the yamaha vulcan ;) ) have their strong and week points and overall are great bikes. you just have to find the one that you will be comfortable on.

OOPS! Ment the Yamaha V Star.
We have both sat on the VLX and S40, the S40 felt comfortable to us both and the VLX was to wide for the wife, it felt a bit wide for me as well but was thinking I need to sit on it again.
But what about power and being forgiving to the new riders?

Try them all and find out what fits you. That's what is important.
You live in a beautiful part of the country so your biking experiences should be great. Wish I knew about the rally. I would have made the trip from Jersey.
