Hi everybody, I'm new to this world of motorcycling so welcome me!! I've just got my Honda Shadow 750 and I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, tell me, where's a good place to start crusing. Away from the traffic (and crazy people.) Just a nice place to start off on a Sunday morning trip?? Where are the Philly cruisers at??? Give me a shout and let me know............. Thanks.....

Sorry I can't help out on the other part, the Philly part

I just got a bike as well, and while i don't live in philly, i can tell you how i decided on what my first ride will be (still waiting for bike to be delivered.) First i got in my car and plotted a local run, making sure the streets where I chose are relatively empty but included things i wanted to further practice (such as hills, stop signs, lights, potholes/grating, etc.) I then got on google earth and plotted longer and longer trips for the next days/weeks to practice (street view is good for this once route is plotted.) Once i plotted I took a run through them with my car to make sure they were ok, the whole time trying to slowly take more crowded roads. I live in a suburb of NYC, it is very crowded and people have poo poo for brains here when it comes to driving so I thought if I take time to plot in advance I will know where I am going, have some idea what the roads and conditions are like, make sure they are not super crowded with traffic, and provide for the things i want to practice still...

kk, I've got about 3 months under my belt, and I did pretty much what you have described. Basically, I've been going around the block, and the blocks keep getting bigger and bigger. This evening I put on about 125 miles, going around several blocks. What a blast. Google maps has been a great help indeed.

Lots of great areas to see in PA. Amish country. There's the historic brandywine part of Delaware (or the beaches if you're into that). Head north up to the Water Gap. Western PA I don't know so much about, but pretty much all there IS in Pennsylvania outside Philly is scenic driving.
