Silly question

..I havnt actaully owned a motorcycle yet, so give me a break if this is a stupid idea.

Could I take the side fairings off a sport bike in order to prevent damage in the likley hood the bike gets layed down?

Possibly dropping it a couple times, then putting the stored-away fairings back on to possibly increase resale value. I know those things cost a lot of money to repair / replace.

Yes, in most cases. You might only have to rework/rethink lights (headlights, blinkers) as they are integrated with the fairing. And mirrors too.

You've also got a ton of wiring to hide, a coolant bottle to move and some other stuff.

There is an entire community dedicated to that sort of thing.

I'm not a sport bike guy, but how about installing some frame sliders? Aren't those supposed to prevent damage to the fairing?

Plus you get the added benefit of explaining to everyone how they are *really* for your "track days".
