85 Suzuki Madura 700 or 87 Yamaha Virago 535

Looking for a small/mid size "run around town" bike. I am looking at possibly either an 85 Suzuki Madura 700 which I can get for $1000 plus it will need tires soon but otherwise in good shape. The other option is an 87 Yamaha Virago 535 that I can get for $1300. It will need a battery now and probably a front tire soon. This Virago is the one with the fake tank and the real gas tank is under the seat. Cosmetically, the Virago is mint. It has been in storage for the last 9 years but sounds like it was stored properly - i.e. gas drained from tanks and carbs, etc - and seems to run fine.
Any thoughts on which would be better to pick up? My only concern with the Suzuki is that is was only made for 2 years so parts can be hard to find.
