Please, please, please call me an idiot........
I have been floating around these parts for some time and it seems to me that recently more and more people have been ridiculed for asking questions. So I guess it's my turn.
I recently passed MSF and I now have my "M" endorsement. I also went out and picked up a copy of David L. Hough's book Proficient Motorcycling which I read cover to cover (even though I don't ever plan on getting a sidecar....lol).
Now what I'm wondering about is "blipping the throttle" when downshifting. That never came up in MSF nor did I read anything about "blipping the throttle" in Proficient Motorcycling. I know I'm an idiot for not knowing what or how "blipping the throttle" works but would someone please be kind enough to enlighten me?

Blipping is revving the engine while the clutch is pulled in. It helps match the engine RPM's to the speed the drivetrain will force the engine to run when the clutch is let out again. This reduces the abrupt jump that happens when the engine is suddenly forced to speed up and tries to slow down the drivetrain (engine braking) as a result.
