What's up,
Nice website and forum, I'd say - thought I'd pass a question, I'm sort of confused, do I need to get a driver's license first before taking a rider's license?
I live in Calgary too, by the way.
Thanks for your time

In Alberta, you need a class 7 (learners) before getting a class 5 (regular driver) or class 6 (bike) and you need to be at least 16. Go to a registry office and pick up both the regular class 5 drivers handbook and the class 6 one for bikes. Or read them online here:

Thanks

So I'm right, I need to get a class 7 license, learning straight out of driver's book, not bike book?
Thanks again

Yes, you need the class 7. The info you need to get class 7 is in the regular driver handbook to write the test.
Oh yeah,

Hahah thanks
OK, I will write down the class 7 test after I study driver's handbook
But the question is, will I really have to hold the license for 1 year w/out passing for another class or riding the bike? If that's true, then waste of time, lol....

If your Q is do you need to have class 7 for a min of 1 year, then yes if you are 16 or under, it's all in the handbooks. If you go read the link all the answers are on there. Class 7 is only a written test - go do it sooner than later and the 1 year will start counting down...

well, i'm not under 16.....
So, if i pass class 7 written test, and get my license, why is it you have to wait for 1 year?
Thanks again.
