The weather has finnaly gotton better here and its time for a new back tire. I basically just ride it to work and buz around town. Any ideas for a good brand to look for or will most work for my uses? This is for an '81 Yamaha 750 Seca.

My advice is to replace the rear with the same size, brand and type as the existing to avoid potential handling quirks. What is the condition and age of the front? The reason I ask is that tires are engineered to work best as a dedicated pair, so it may be best to change them both at the same time in your case, especially if you're considering changing brands.

i have a set of these on my 750.
pretty much has whatever you want in a tyre.
i also agree with poppygene. i'd get a matching pair. might as well get them together. saves on having to take the bike out of service at another time to change the front when you could be riding....lol

Dunlop Arrowmax GT501 or the Bridgestone Battleax would make your bike hook up pretty good.

Don't think you'll find any of the newer series tires like the GT501 in your sizes, but the Battlax BT45 does comes in your sizes. I like the Bridgestone S11 tires for the 80's bikes. Always a good sport touring tire, the compounds were updated a couple years ago making them even better. Good handling and good life. Dual compound construction. Harder center for longer life with softer edges for better handling.

Bridgestone recommends the S11s for you 81 Seca 750 in a 100/90-19 front and a 120/90-18 rear size. Can get a pair for about $133 delivered from Chaparral or a rear only for $60 plus $9 shipping.

I had a tough time finding a matched set for my '80s bike - but eventually found a brand called IRC (http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20TIR ... are920.htm) which are pretty amazing so far.
