Triumph fever!

So...... Im a squid I guess, I wear my gear and stuff, but im really wanting more bike under me. Itll take quite a while to save enough to get something like what I want but Im saving already, I imagine in a couple years ill be close.

I was really thinkin hard on the daytona 675 or the cbr 600, I love both of those bikes, and recently ive been leaning towards the triumph a lot. I just had a few questions to its extremity.....

Ive heard so many conflicting opinions on its comfort, im about 6'1" and would be riding quite a bit. Also I hear the heat from the exhaust is bad.

Just general opinions are really appreciated :D

The things you've heard are all valid concerns for those people - but might not be for you. The biggest determination in how comfortable a bike is is how you fit on it. No one will know that but you because we're all shaped different (even when we're the same height..you might have longer legs/shorter torso, or the reverse, etc).

If you're talking about doing it in a couple years and you're on the 250 in your avatar - I don't think you'd find anyone on here who would call you a squid for that. Well, I take that back..some people are pretty ridiculous and might :laughing: - but they're being ridiculous.

So sit on them and try them out for fit. You'll know by trying a bunch of different ones out what is and isn't comfortable. If you can over the next few years, try to watch the local dealerships and see if they have demo days. You may also have dealerships that, once you're close to buying, will let you take the bikes for a ride. Or have a local sportbike rental place.

Hey, I ride a Triumph Daytona 650 and I wanna tell you a few things about the 675.

-it's not as comforable as the CBR, read this in many reviews.
-it's a Triumph - parts are hard to find and often expensive
-I don't know much about the 675 in terms of reliability but I do know the 650 doesn't meet my expectations.

Get the CBR. I wish I bought a CBR instead of the Daytona. Honda is just more reliable.

I'd go for the triumph myself. In bright "procreating" look at me yellow. Just cause it's different.

I saw ANOTHER 650R in this area. That's 3 including myself. It was 07 blue. Made me want to get another bike. Not going to lie, one of the things I like about the ninja is that it's unique. It's only in year 2 of production, not many out there.

Unfortunately it doesn't come in 'look at me' yellow. The Scorched Yellow color for the 675 (and the Tiger) looks very bright on-line, but in person it looks more like a subdued gold. I like it for that reason.

MUCH better than that "dog-pecker pink" they had on the Speed Triple a few years ago. :sick:

Holy thread-resurrection, Batman. This is what I get for not visiting here very often. :shock:

Regarding your height and the bike - it depends on how you're built. If you've got long legs, you'll probably find the bike quite cramped. I'm 5'9", with 32.5" inseam, so I'm quite comfortable 99% of the time. On long hauls I do get a little stiff in the leg, but... it's a sport bike.

You're extra inch or 3 will probably make the seating position feel a little less aggressive. I find that I'm a bit over the tank to get to the bars, but it's nothing terrible. That having been said, the riding position is very aggressive - perfect for carving out the twisties here in AZ.

Also, the bike is quite narrow. A lot narrower than other 600s I've ridden. Great for me, but some folks may find that to be an issue.

Heat. The heat from the exhaust is actually not much of an issue. It's the heat from the engine that'll fry your thighs. Literally. (I've had burns.)The bike gets quite warm (read: very hot) when you're in stop and go traffic but is absolutely not a problem if you keep your speed up. So, if you're planning on using it as a commuter, you may consider the CBR.

Reliability. I haven't had any problems with my bike. Naturally, if you go to the 'tona forum, you will see threads where people have had issues. The majority of folks, though, don't seem to have any trouble. Finky is right, though: parts are expensive and can be difficult to find. BikeBandit will be your friend if you buy a 'tona.

Hmmm... trying to think if there are other issues that you might want to consider before getting a Daytona. I didn't notice where you're from, but if you're in a wet region, you'll want to know that the stock tires (Pirelli Diablo Corsa IIs). Ummm... that's all I can think of.

All that having been said - the 07 CBR looks like a solid bike, too. I was at a local dealership the other day and got to admiring the bike. I got offered a test ride, but was a good girl and refused. I'm certain that, had I taken it, I would have had a new bike in my stable. It's a beautiful machine that seems really well designed. Don't think it's better than the 'tona, but it's right up there. :D

Thanks for all your great advice! Im really thankful for all that, im still looking at the daytona in the future for sure, but as of now I just found an amazing deal on an old partially busted up f4i that I couldnt pass up hehe. But your time wasnt wasted as you answered questinos great about the bike im looking to get in the long run! Thanks!
