I've been away from the forum for a while (took a break from riding after my buddy lost his arm) but I'm starting to get back on the bike. I report on my friend who was hit head on by an SUV the first week in February, 2 days before he was going to attend Ed Bargy race school and 4 before his first race was to happen.

Just wanted to give a quick update...this past Saturday he took part in his first track day since the wreck. He's still working to get a motorcycle specific prosthetic so he can balance/countersteer better but at the moment all he needed was one arm. If I had an accident like that, I'd be down in the dumps...he's been amazingly positive and won't let this stop him.

Here's Brett doin' his thang:

That is a great example. Tell him to keep going and not to let anything slow him down. also keep us updated of his racing carreer.

Very cool. I don't think I could get back in the saddle like that.

kabob, awesome to see Brett up and running so quickly. That's awesome. He looks pretty good out there. Though I agree that it's nice to have 2 "hands" on the bar, it adds for a greater sense of stability and control even if the 2nd arm is not providing an equal amount of input to the bike.

Thanks for the pics 8)

For some, its impossible to get back in the saddle again after a bad wreck, for other it can take years, 13 in my case....but your friend is a true inspiration for riders and non-riders alike......me hat is off to him.
