I'm not quite ready to buy yet, but I have started looking at used bikes to get a feel for what the market is like. Here's some of the used bikes in the local area and I'm interested in opinions as to why they were sold/traded in at such a young age.

2006 Honda VLX 600, 200 miles http://www.twiggcycles.com/new_vehicle_ ... pov=590420

2006 Suzuki S40, 800 miles http://www.twiggcycles.com/new_vehicle_ ... pov=571409

VTX1800: Bought as a first bike. Twisted the throttle and hit 60mph in a 30 almost immediately. Almost hit a parked car right in front of his wife. Scared to death, wife forced him to sell it.

VLX 600: Bought without taking a class. Got frustrated and scared trying to learn it on his own. Decided being a biker is not worth it.

S40s: Bought for wives. Didn't like it. Sold.

The VLX and S40's could have likely been bought by beginners, who decided after only a few hundred miles that they were now "experienced" riders and traded them in for some super cruiser.

Sounds about right.
