Greetings to everyone. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks -- since I was bitten (stung) by the bug.

The information and advice on this board have been invaluable.

I have scheduled my MSF course, purchased my protective gear and am looking forward to a lifetime of learning and enjoyment.

While it was my intention to get a bike AFTER going through the course and getting my license -- that was not meant to be. The gods must have been smiling on me. I was checking out the classifieds -- and came across a 1995 Honda Shadow VLX - candy apple red (VT600CS) -- with only 4,000 miles, sisy bar, straight pipes, always garage kept and never dropped. There is only on slight scratch on it near the right passenger peg and a few places where the chrome has slight pitting. It runs great -- and at only $1,600 -- well let's just say ..... I couldn't resist having it as my first bike. From what I've read here -- it should be a great bike to begin my joy of riding and learning.

The bike was located 90+ miles from my home -- but my mechanic offered to take a look at it -- and ride it home for me. It's now sitting patiently in my garage - awaiting a full maintenance service.

As if all of this wasn't enough - What is even more amazing is the gentleman I purchased it from -- said that if we found anything major that needed repairing after getting it home -- call him and he would send me a few hundred bucks back to help cover the expense. Like I said -- the gods must have been smiling on me.

So here I am -- just 2 and a half weeks from taking my MSF -- and excited as a little kid in a candy store.

Thanks again to everyone. I look forward to sharing my adventures with anyone interested in reading -- and I truly appreciate all the advice I've already gotten here.

Regards - and HAPPY RIDING

Welcome. I understand your pain with having a bike, no training yet and no endorsement. The bike my bro and I purchased to learn on sat for a few months before we could hit the streets. It was brutal. Good luck!

Welcome to the site. My wife just a got a bike yesterday and hasn't even scheduled her MSF. Guess I'll have to be the one to make the sacrifice and ride it for her /sarcasm
