For the last several months I've been having a small issue with my front brake - it seems to fade. So I'd rebleed and get pressure back and it'd befine for a bit, then fade again after several rides.

Well I found out why:




The line is leaking at the junction where it meets the fitting. I bought this line from a local Honda shop, where I ordered it from his catalog and paid around $80. My question is, should I try to get it replaced/refunded by going back to the Honda shop? It's a Swage-Plot line that I installed last year.

Anyway, I suppose I need to replaced it before I go riding again huh?? I don't think I'll go with the same brand again.

Never heard of Swage-Plot, sounds like a cheap knock-off of the name SwageLok, which is a good brand name in stainless lines and fittings.... the best in fact.

Either way, the line is defective and should be replaced by the company. That said, I would not be surprised to learn they won't. But you ought to try.

When they say no, tell your Honda dealer they are selling cheap, DANGEROUS braking components and if they won't do anything, find another source. Make sure you tell they shop they are endangering their customers. If they don't care, you have better places to spend your money, and will tell anyone who will listen that the shop only wants their money and if the customer dies, they don't don't care... as long as the bill is paid. That should get them around to your way of thinking, but if not, you're better off with another shop.

You're right, the stuff us defective and dangerous. I'm tempted to contact the manf and let them know of this problem. Itd be easy to swing the bike by the shop and let the guy see it. The hurdle in this though is verbal communication. He speaks some English, I speak some JPN, but the line speaks for itself.

I need to remeasure and reorder from somewhere. What a hassel
