What are your thoughts on adding a center stand -- I have a Honda Shadow VT600C
Thanks for your input.

Don't they come from the factory with a centerstand?

Not so much any more, mine don't have a centerstand either. I picked up a lift at Iron Pony for about $100.

My new bike did not come with one - Kawi 650R - and my previous bikes had them. Rather than add one, I attached spools (if that is the correct term) to the bike and purchased a stand that centers and lifts the bike when needed. Useful for chain lubing and oil changes so far.

Before I bought a bike I thoguht 'eh, center stand? who needs that?'
Now that I have one, and it has a center stand, I wouldn't give it up. I think it's ridiculous that it's become an "optional accessory" for $200 on some bikes.
I haven't even started to work on my bike yet -- once I learn how to take the thing apart I expect it will go from "cool" to "invaluable." Just for parking the thing here in the city it's nice to have.

I love my centerstand. It's great for maintenance on the go (long trips), letting people sit on my bike. Or best yet, laying down on the bike under a tree and eating lunch.
Sometimes it provides clearance issues though when I'm trying to drag pegs but since it's a V-Strom I have to REALLY be trying

Where to Purchase

For the VT600C -- I've only found one place on-line that even carries it -- TwistedThrottle.com and it is the SW-MOTECH Centerstand.
Can anyone recommend any other online retailers?
Thanks

Center stands should be standard equipment, or a dirt cheap option on all bikes.
In addition to the benefits mentioned above, it looks cool to have your feet on the pegs, rock the bike forward and drive off in one easy motion.

I'm interested in your experiences with that centerstand if you get it. I'm considering getting one for my VT600C.
