Timing chain replacement 83 Honda cb 1000c

I am trying to help a buddy fix his bike. It was making noise, and he said ride it. Well it slipped a timing gear. He has it iff and the new chain, but was wondering what to set. We both now it will be a "dog" if we get a couple teeth off. Don't know if it is a o tolerance motor. Please if someone can point us in the right direction it would be great. Yea, we could buy a manual, but it would be giving up on all avenues. That is what we all do here is help each other, right...................Later, Jody
