I would like the mods/admin to attempt to do something to reduce the repetitive topics that are running a muck. This is not new but nothing seems to being done on it in a proactive way.

Example: all the topics of ways to get around 600cc sport bikes and even today I see post on 1000cc first bikes. Yes I know cc do not equate to HP/torque but its what newbies understand.

I have no magic solution other that to ask that management do something to stem the tide of these posts.

Since I cannot filter "View new posts" by forum, I end up seeing them if I like it or not. I would like to see new post only when I go to that forum.

For those that have been here around 6 months or more, what do you think of a filter or mods being proactive on giving a short answer with a link and then lock the post?

Meh that would be rude. Without the locking part I think it is the best answer.

You don't like a particular post, how hard is it to close the link and move on?

Personally I would like to see more reviews for the EX250 as a first bike. What do you think??

psh. we all know a GSX-R 1000 is second (third?) only to the busa and zx-14 as a beginner bike.

The 600cc-sportbike-for-newbies is the classic repetitive post. This is a "refer to stickies" subject. Pretty much ties in with what I had suggested a couple of weeks ago that mods clean-up and lock the stickies so they stay uncluttered.

No need for the mods to refer them to the stickies and/or previous threads, other users can. As for the locking, I agree with intotherain.

If only one user simply points them to the link and no-one else posts, the repetitive thread will die a natural death.

I think the repetitive threads are the nature of the beast. New people are constantly getting into motorcycling and newbies love to talk about their new hobby. Newbies are always going to post these questions and other newbies that have been around a couple months will always answer because it makes them feel good about their new knowledge.

I am on a ninja forum that has an extensive FAQ/wiki page. In the forums if you ask a question that is even remotely similar to a topic covered in the FAQ the forum regulars jump all over you and leave five replies that just say "read the FAQ." That sort of thing discourages new posters from being part of the community.

Now, can we go back to talking about the overly large signatures? JCViper, could you make yours smaller?
