its seems like whenever something gets resolved on this bike I find another problem. When I take the bike out its fine for about 10 minutes but after it warms up, whenever I pull in the clutch the bike will rev. up to around 3500 rpms. and when I release the clutch and put the bike back in gear it will go back to normal. After this when I have the bike just sitting it will be running at 3500 rpms when its in neutral.

Sounds like a vacuum leak....

Check the carburetor boots. They crack with age. Silicone rubber can temporarily seal them...but replacement is better, as they will eventually crumble..

awesome I will check that out.....I talked to one of my buddies today and he said that it could also be a hole in the diaphram of either one or both of the carburators, do you know it this could be the problem as well???

The diaphragms cause the slide to pick up. If they are bad, you usually can't get any RPMs out of the engine. It is like the throttle being stuck shut. The vacuum that picks them up is generated by the velocity of the air through the carb. I doubt they would affect your idle much. You can check them with the air cleaner off and a mirror. When you give it throttle, the slides will rise...
