Just looked at this Maxim. Awesome condition, new tires, original owner
13500 miles.
He is asking $1600.00 Seems High What should I offer? By the way, this is for my wife. Seems like the perfect size for her to graduate from her Rebel 250.

KBB in my area shows about 1100 value. BUT, that being said, there are a TON of parts and aftermarkets avaliable for the XS650s, so I would prop the value up a little. I'd probably offer 1300 and see what he says.

Original owner and only 13500 miles, I would be a little wary. Chances are it has sat dormant for at least a few years.
If everything looks to be in good shape and it starts, or at least turns over, then it may not be a bad purchase. However, at that price, I would get a mechanic to check it out.

I just got my xj550 for $900. Then I had to add all the tax and title change etc. to all of that. Thank goodness for AAA to do all the work for me though. I always use Kelly Blue book to check out my price variations. There is also another institution that does estimates on all that, but I have forgotten the name. I think mine has around 2K extra miles than the one you are looking at. The price sounds high to me, so I think that the owner isn't really overly interested in selling it, he just doesn't ride it anymore. Good luck with it. Sounds like a fun bike though.
