The utter disregard for safety

Nowadays, you see more people riding high end bikes than you did a few years ago, and with that, more idiots that seem to be out there trying to kill themselves, or others.
The other day, some idiots riding some imports of some sort went flying past me and some of my friends at over 100mph. The freaking tossers were half naked (shorts, no shirts, no helmets, no shoes), and doing all sorts of dumb@$$ stunts. The fact that it was in a small suburban area where the speed limit is only 30mph, and they were in a deaf persons area, really put more people at risk.
Who do people like this think they are? As far as I think, suicidal.
I don't get how some people don't wear safety gear because they think that it's "unfashionable". What's more "fashionable", your bike, or your head? Not to mention, there are a lot of helmets/jackets/boots that actually do look pretty cool, and I don't see the point in arguing, since it's much cheaper than paying for a hospital bed, or even a gravestone!

I know it's probably not very good to say, but there's a point where letting people get away with stupid bullshit because 'it's not your place' ends, and a bit of vigilante comes out.

If I'm out on a casual ride and someone (cager or otherwise) does something stupid, I have no problem following them for miles just to tell them what I think.

If I see a guy coming up behind me (cage or otherwise) Edit: At an excessive speed I've got no problem with crowding the road (Edit: a two lane rural road, not a four lane freeway) to force them to slow down.

If some idiot is out doing wheelies in the middle of a busy street, I'll follow him and let him know what I think. If he just tells me to F-off, I'll wait until he goes into the store and let the air out of his tires.

I'm just too tired of idiots doing whatever they want. Too many people think it's all about them. Too many people think they can do whatever the hell they want just because there aren't any cops around. If that makes me an "O Ring", so be it. It's better than just sitting around telling myself 'Oh, they'll get caught one day, yeah, and that'll teach 'em'.

doing this kind of thing will get you killed if you mess with the wrong person. at least around here.

ive seen a guy(35ish) park in a handicap spot illegally, and an old guy(70+) who saw he parked there decided to get in a huge argument right in front of the store. the younger guy was about to beat the hell out of the old guy right there on the spot. i saw it all happen and got my self involved and stepped between them. the younger guy didnt want anything to do with me and got in his car and left without saying anything more. but had i not been there im certain he would have laid out the old guy and took off. over what a parking spot? you cant be that concerned with other people unless your willing to accept the risk of them killing you over it.

i dont do anything stupid(wheelies and stuff). but if someone gets bent out of shape over something i do on the road and follows me and let the air out of my tires, and i catch them doing it... they will regret it no question. letting the air out enough to effect my tires but not enough that i would notice at first puts my life in serious risk. going to take a turn only to find out your tires are half flat is bad. in no way can you justify putting someones life at risk because you didnt like them doing a wheelie.

In my defense though, I'm not going to do something stupid like pull out in front of someone doing 200 km/h or anything. I ride a bike, and I drive a cage, and I know the consequences of doing a great deal of anything in either of them.

What would you do, though? Some idiot driving along past you every day at twice the speed limit? Just let him be and get on with your life? That's all fine and dandy until your kids are getting the mail, just over that hill, and all of a sudden you've got to deal with some seriously heavy "poo poo".

vigilante justice will likely hurt you in the end. if it happens almost daily report him to the police with the time it happens and what he drives. they will bound to check it out. say he nearly hit your kids that day get them out gunning for the guy. when they catch him hes screwed, when you screw with him on the rode it will just make him drive more aggressive. what if hes running up behind you and you make a move to slow him down and he tries to make a pass and goes out of controll off the road and nails the kids getting the mail... its would be at that point partly your fault.

i hate when people like to play police in their car. i ride a road thats 35mph limit every day, people blow down that street at twice the limit. i go the limit cause i know theres cops swarming around. i dont go out of my way to block or slow speeders down bad things always happen. one time on that road i was doing the limit as was the car next to me. some kid behind us was mad he couldnt get by, so decided to attempt to pass on my left in the turning lane going around a turn. there was a car in the turn lane he didnt see nearly went head on with it. the car passing me had to swarve furthur to the left into on comming traffic to miss the car. no idea if he wreckd or what happend. but it wasnt good. had i tried to block or slow the guy down id been involved in any incident that results.

if someone wants to speed its not my business, if they look seriously dangerous about to kill someone, i have a cell phone to call the police and alert them to whats going on.

If that sounds like a cop-out to you, then we're hearing the same thing. Really though, I just hope that I appear to be intelligent enough around the rest of the TMW forums to have people understand that I'm not just out there running people down on the road for crossing the yellow lines too many times.

I do drive defensive, and at times I do drive agressively. I am a member of a small community, where our life, culture, society, and more is quite different from living in the city, and I don't expect anyone to just say 'Oh, yes, well, you're doing a completely reasonable thing, what you've said there'.

I apologize if it sounds quite poor, as I'm not the very best with words (Edit: Well, no, no, I take that back. I'm fairly good with words- It's the whole 'complete thought' thing that gets me hung up ). Perhaps I need to make my own topic about this sort of thing. :/

Over here in reality (had to do it....just kidding )where the rest of us live we realize that blocking people and playing police just enrages them, causes them to take chances to get around you endangering you both. I give lots of people dodo for speeding through the playground zone in front of my house and I have a low tolerance for those who put the rest of us at risk just like you. But I really think you need to use a new tactic. Your method of "speed control for others" endangers as many or more people than the speeder himself.

Well, I'm not going to keep going on about how 'It's probably not as bad as I made it seem', because, quite frankly, that'd probably be a lie. Besides, good advice is good advice, any way around.

All I do is shake my head and hope he/she has a minor scrape so they can learn to respect the machine and the power it has. Doing anything to try and get in there way will probably just come back and bite you eventually, it's not worth the trouble.
