I am working on a 1979 KZ 1000 everything works pretty good except there is no mid range power. From 3000 to 4000 rpms it is gutless. It has new coils, new electronic ing., good compression, new ex. system, jetted, with uni pod filters. I want to loose the pods, but the owner wants to keep them. It is a dyna ing. system and I just put it on yesterday. Starts and runs good has good low and top end power, but mid SUCKS. Help, help, help.

have you balanced the carbs yet?

sounds like the carbs need to be synchronized in a big way.

Pod filters can cause jetting hassles that require a dyno to cure, even then, it's not always possible to get perfect jetting all across the board on every engine.

Alot of very smart people spent alot of time and effort designing stock airboxes for a good reason.
