Did I kill my battery?

I have a brand new bike and I left the keys in it, with the lights on for well over a week. (in my locked garage, incase your wondering why I still have a bike) Needless to say the battery is dead. It's been on a trickle charger since Sunday afternoon (now Tuesday afternoon) and it still indicates charging. We did try it in the bike anyways and no go.

Do you think I killed it? The dealership told me it might take a good 2-3 days to charge it back up if I didn't kill it. The battery is 3 months old.... should I just go out a buy a new battery at this point? Ahhh....lessons learned the hard way.

Thanks!

Slap a trickle charger with a float on it, and see what happens. No way to find out how bad it is until you try to fix it. And draining then charging a battery is one of the worst things you can do to it.

Personally, I couldn't stand not riding for 3 days, so I'd buy a new battery anyways. But that's just me.

Thanks, that's what my husband is doing. Wish me luck... at this point, not riding is driving me crazy.... I'm taking it to the dealer tommorow to see if there's any charge in it, but I might just bite the bullet and buy a new battery!!!

Won't be doing that again!

Totally off-topic, but how are you liking the 125? I'm trying to convince a friend to get one, but she won't settle for anything less then a 600 *eye roll*. I've started looking for a used one to buy as a track bike myself  How sweet would that be?

I love it!!! Granted it's the only bike I've ever ridden. It's a great bike to learn on and still going strong. I definately plan on keeping it till the end of next year and if I'm bored, I'll trade up then. I was one of the first to get one in early June, and I went back to the dealership recently and was surprised that they already had 2 traded in for bigger bikes. Those people were bored with it. I'm not bored and I can't wait to get back on it. Getting the battery thing fixed one way or another.

It's light, clutch is very easy to use, rarely stall and I've been able to easily keep it upright when I should have bailed!

My husband loves to take my out for a "joy ride" and he also wants to race it on a track. He also thinks it's a great bike. I'm seeing more and more on the road and I know there's a waiting list for them. Next shipment to Canada is mid-September.

If you can, Honda is doing demo rides across the country which is what I did back in May. Check it out! Those guys running that are great!

Check to see how much a new battery is for your bike. Our old magna only cost $20 for a new battery- definitely worth it to get back on the road

Well I brought it in to the dealer today and he thinks he can get it up and running. I was willing to buy one today - I doubt they are very expensive. He asked me to wait and to check back in tommorow. But it was still dead to the world, there was no charge.

I will have it back on the road by this weekend one way or another!!

Determined!

Dealership got my battery up and running. Don't know what they did, but it was something more than I could have done at home! Great guys there!! I'm back on the roads!
