My 88 Honda shadow 1100 spills fuel from the breather on the charcoal canister after being garaged for two weeks. Last time it did this it cleared up after about an hour cooldown and restart, then ran great for the last three months.

Somethin's worn out and I am thinking dry and sticking parts but not sure where to look.Outside temperature just dropped below 110 and I want to ride again!

Anyone have a simmilar prob, and know the fix?

The gas tank is wented into the cannister. You must of had a full tank and the fuel expanded. The overfill then went into the cannister.

Don't fill your tank to the top....

don't you hate intermitent problems?

Could be, I filled it before the heatwave hit.
It has been real hot out lately too would make for more expansion.

I started it today and no spill.
Seems like theres a stiff seal somewhere in the smog system that needs replacement. Once fuel gets on it and the overflow drys out, it runs again, same as the last time.
thanks for the reply.
