I was on the way home from work, ive been riding steady on my new old bike for about a week and all the sudden out of nowhere the engine keeps dying. So, I reengage the choke and start it back up again... It hums I go... turn the choke off and the bike dies as SOON as I roll of the throttle. What the heck is going on with my carbed beauty.

The first thing to try is to pop the fuel tank filler cap and see if you notice a inrush of air the next time this happens. It could easily be a clogged fuel cap vent issue.

If that don't get it, you may want to try removing the petcock and cleaning the pick-up screen, while your digging around down there, check for an in-line fuel filter that may be clogged.

See if any of that helps.
