Yeah. Or a sip of gas on reserve.

But, this way was so much more of a statement in 'we'll not tolerate'

Then you have to have a bunch of cops chase what looks like a young, athletic guy, no doubt chock full of adrenaline and possibly drugs, possibly armed, on foot through a city.

This way removed all doubt about that

Because that wouldn't incapacitate the rider and they'd be back where they started. They wanted HIM out, heck with the bike.

Lose 6-9 grand cause of a wrecked bike vs. a dangerous criminal loose on the streets.

I think they made the right decision.

Actually, while he was getting on the bike, I half expected a sniper to take him out. The hostages were clear and they had a good clear shot.

Not only was a perfectly good bike cracked up, so was the side of the police vehicle...not to mention the danger to that police officer.

But, yeah: this way is a lot more dramatic.
