It has been a few decades since I rode a bike, but that was before MSF was available. Got one lined up in 3 weeks, and do not have a beginning bike picked out yet.
It seems that each time I think I have the bike picked out, I read new info online or from a saleman, that makes me change to a different brand or lower engine size!
Currently am at the Suzuki V Strom 650, fits well and feels good. But after reading the posts here, I'm inclined to change to a 350cc-500cc range bike.
No hurry though, will keep lurking. I enjoy trekking over to the dealers every Friday just to sit and sniff the merchandise!
Thanks for all the good info!
Back to lurking......

Hey and from across the states welcome! I've heard a lot of great things about the V strom, seems like a great bike to tour with comfort. If you're looking towards a cruiser check out some of the metric crusiers, can't be beaten for the price/quality. Good luck and once again

Welcome!
My wife and I use to live in Sacramento about 9 years ago. Seems to me you live in a pretty good bike place. I did ride when we lived there, but I have thought many times how fun it would be to ride up to Nevada City, or out to the coast and ride up through Marin up to Stinson Beach, or down to Halfmoon Bay. Or just taking a spin along the levees in the area. Or winding around wine country. Pretty lucky, and on a good bike.
Have fun!

yup, looking forward to riding to Nevada City or up to Ashland, Oregon on I-5, or to just about anywhere! Working on the old lady now to convince her I won't hit a windshield at 55 my first time out!
Since I been all around Calif in a car, I believe doing the same on a bike would be so much more fun! even at 61!

I mistyped - I said I did ride when I lived there - I meant I did not. But I wish I had.
