Stolen? Maybe...
Stolen? Maybe...
I have some questions about buying a bike. My dad bought a Ninja 250 for both of us, but he just decied to give it to me and buy himself another one.
Anyways, I'm 16 years old and I just recently quit my previous job. I was getting paid 5.50 an hour and working till 11:15 on school nights. So now, I'm currently looking for a decent job, but in the meantime I've been looking at some 2nd bikes.
Of course I dont have enough money for a new bike, and currently I only have like a hundred bucks saved up for myself. I would really want an R6, CBR600 or GSXR 600.
I looked in a cycle trading magazine and saw a 2003 R6 "in very good condition". From what I saw, it had no damage and seemed like a perfect candiate for me since it was only $2,900. At that price, I can just trade my ninja (2007 with 1600 miles on it) for about $2600 and get the rest of the dinero withen 3 or 4 weeks of having a new job.
This is what makes me weary about this deal. Its a very nice bike, and its only going for $2,900. Could this be stolen property. What if the owner says "title is still in the hands of previous owner"... then it MUST be stolen right?
I shouldn't buy stolen property, then again, someone else will. Umm... yeah.. not too sure about this one...

Keep in mind they could have stunted the crap out of it... All they would have to do is remove the 12 bar (if they had one), get new plastics (if they dropped it), and possibly a new tank, (if they bashed the original one in). My sister's ex had an 04 Gixxer 600 that they foolishly paid over 8K for. Cracked plastics, it was easy to tell that the bike was on it's second pair at least. The PCIII had been taken out, and they found out the day after they bought it that it had been it's previous owner's stunt bike...

It probably wont even matter that I had a Ninja 250 with no incidents right? Even so..
I just wish they more Ninja 650r's and SV650's in my area. There are like 100 bikes in this magazine, and none of them are either of those bikes. I might have seen a mention of a 650, but I turned it down just like the other 98 choices.
