when i turn my new moped on "change oil" flashes on the screen (where the time/ miles are). the red oil light is not coming on but it just flashes for a couple of seconds on the screen. what i want to know is why isnt the red light coming on and where do i actually have to put the oil, because when i lift the seat there is an oil tank next to the petrol tank but my step-dad seemed to think that there is probably another oil tank that it goes in, as he think that tank is probably where the petrol and oil mixes or something, not sure.

Best thing to do is read and follow the directions in your owners manual. If not, be more specific on the make and model and someone may be able to give you better answers.
What kind of scooter is it?

just a simple stab at it...but does this all happen right when you engage the ignition? Is it just the warning light tests etc upon starting the vehicle?(Similar to how cars will turn on some of their lights upon turning the ignition)

+1 Could just be a startup light that says the system is on.

my moped is a peugeot vivacity and yes this is coming up as soon as i turn it on but thats the thing, its not the oil light coming on its an actual written message coming up on the scren where the time is. and then it just flashes for a couple of seconds then it goes back to the time.

thats probably just a system test light then. i would look at the owners manual and see if there is anything written about it. If you find no help there I'm sure the dealer who sold it to you would know.
