Ninja 650r
Ninja 650r
I know most people here wouldn't recommend the ninja 650r as a first bike but I read a lot of reviews of it and they mention that it would be good for beginners. Why would all the motorcycle magazines do this if it is really too powerful for a first bike?

Tough call. Everybody's different. It depends on lots of things, like how much riding you've done, and under what conditions. Have a license? Lots of training? Then 'maybe'.
It's 'gray area' because it's a bike you could live with for years, and not get tired of, but then again it COULD buck ya in the first five minutes if you don't know what you're doing.
So, maybe is about all I can say. Spend the $900 savings on reputable training and quality gear, and I might say 'yes'....maybe.

Good advice. I'm taking the MSF class this weekend so I'll see how confident I am after that.Fast Eddy B wrote:Tough call. Everybody's different. It depends on lots of things, like how much riding you've done, and under what conditions. Have a license? Lots of training? Then 'maybe'.

ninjas are horrible. I think KarateChick, Nalian, and KiethB can back me up on this
lol, just kidding, but anyway, like said it's considered a grey area bike around these parts. Though if the MSF goes well and it seems to almost come natural to you, the 650R would be a fine bike to start on. Though do yourself a favor and find a black 2006, they're the best ones of all

this is the bike i'm going to buy in spring. I like the styling and the ergos on this bike, plus the dealer is giving me a good deal. The main points I carevabout in a bike is reliability, comfort, price and support. and this bike seems to satisfy all that. Although I really do love the SV650
