My bike was slipping in all gears and the clutch action was at the very end of the handle travel. I opened the master cylinder for the clutch and found basically mud. Very poor fluid. Its a used bike. I dismantled the clutch and it appeared to be in good shape. Then I took apart the slave cylinder. The unit that actuates the pushrod on the other side of the engine. It was siezed and gummed up. Plus the seal was extrude and torn. I eplaced that. Then the seals in the master cylinder failed. I'm managing to get some fluid down into the slave cylinder but i dont think theres any pressure due to the failed seals in the handle.

I would like to know how much force is required to actuate that push rod to operate the clutch? Would I be able to push the push rod with my hand and operate the clutch? Reason Im asking is because i'd like to know if my problem is now handle related.

Thanks

A straight puch on the actuation rod requires mucho force. A cable clutch has 2 leverage enhancers, one at the lever and where the other end of the cable actuates. A hyd. clutch has the master cylinder (on the bars) and a slave cylinder to multiply the force.

Rebuild the master cylinder seals..... they are probablt just as gummed up as the slave was, they both pump the same gorpy fluid.
