Well, I made a very stupid mistake. I left this morning for work thinking that I could make it 20 miles to the gas station on base for fuel instead of the one 1/4 from my house. I got about 5 miles from the house when the bike went dead. Switched to reserve and only got another couple of miles and she went dead for good. Luckily, a coworker had not made it to work yet and was able to bring me some fuel.

Lesson learned, never pass up a gas station just to make it to the next one down the road.:frusty:

Your reserve was only good for a couple of miles?? That doesn't sound right. What does your manual say is the capacity of the reserve?

Almost sounds like you had it backwards and actually running it on reserve.

It's possible that I had it backwards and was running on reserve and then when I ran out, I was out. Luckily, I had a coworker who was able to bring me some gas otherwise it would have been a long walk. I do know now that I will definitely watch the odometer and not try to push it too far.

I'd love to have a gas gauge on my next bike.

I've got one! Very nice feature and one I won't want to be without on my next bike.
