Gas Tank

I got a 1982 Maxim can someone tell me what the RES PR and ON setting are and what the bike should be on when im just riding it.
PR stands for prime or gas will flow at all times. On stands for on, it's a vacuum powered petcock so when the engine is running gas will flow. RES is for reserve, use this after you run out of gas on ON.
When I run out of gas on the road I have to put mine in PR to get enough gas in the carbs to restart before I can move it to reserve.
