HELLO PEOPLE!
Hi I'm The Italian, (for obvious reasons), I live in Miami and I've always been wanting to buy a motorcycle, since I was a lil kid. Now I'm 20 and I see the opportunity to buy a motorcycle so I joined this forum to learn all that there is to learn (theory of course practice I'll do it my self

) about motorcycles.
I will attend an MSF course in december and hopefully have my bike by june 2008 (my b-day eh eh).
WELLLLLL happy to be here hope i can learn from those that are experts in the matter.
See you around!

Good question.
Since I'm a beginner, (I know how to ride a scooter but that's different) I was thinking of more of a docile bike. I've been looking around and i found that the Kawasaki 250 R is a perfect beginners bike. It's sporty looking, so my eyes are content, it's not too powerful that sucks the water out of your eyes, and is not too "weak" that you feel like riding a three legged sick cow. The new model is very nice I really like it, great design. But I thought that a new model expecialli for a beginner is not really a wise idea, I will be falling, or drop it and a new bike would only get ruined. So I thought of buying the older model, and used so if I drop it i wouldn't be feeling too bad.
But Before the bike I will buy the gear, i will not ride without protective gear, expecially here in Miami. Here if they don't see a huge SUV in their review mirror they will think that there's nothing behind them or beside them and ran you over. SO safety first.
Anybody knows of good protective gear that doesn't cost a leg? I was thinking of getting Alpinestars boots, gloves, knee pads, and protective shorts, then for the jacket I was looking into Fieldsheer Kinowa Leather jacket. it is $260, it has back shoulders and elbow pads, it is perforated for good air flow (awesome here in miami). For the Helmet I will not be cheap, my head is the most precious thing I have.........maybe the second most precious thing I have

and I will not put it in danger. So I was thinking of buying an Arai helmet.
Any suggestions? advices? anybody wants to kill me for this long post?
Thank you so much I already feel at home!
Ciao Belli!

Go and try some gear on. If it's not comfortable, you won't wear it, so get it right the first time. As to a helmet, there's no need to spend a fortune on a helmet unless you have to. Any quality helmet will do, as long as it's fitted correctly. See and read this topic...

Sounds like you are becoming well educated and well prepared for getting into motorcycling. You might also look into a used Ninja 500, a little harder to find but a great beginner bike with just a little more ooomph. Have fun at your MSF course!

What Bike??
Try as many as possible and as many styles as possible. Don't restrict yourself you may be surprised as to what you like. I looked for a twin (ER5) last year as a rememberance of my old Tiger 100ss. But closing on 50 I ended up on a V Twin (VN1500) 3 times the size but comfortable and a good slogger.
Like your partner, make sure you can settle with them for a long time.
I was going to say like a woman, try a number out first before you committ - but that might Pee a few people off.

As a matter of fact I just started looking for a ninja 500, I was intimidated by the 500 but I talked with a few people and they all say that is a great bike and that you don't get bored of it really fast. It's also a better deal than the 250 bc a lot of people want the 250 so it never loses a lot of value, while the 500 is not requested by many and you can find it for $1500.
My problem is the flow, bc since I'm an international student in college I'm not allowed to work legally, anybody knows something that I could be doing to earn a lil extra cash? Thanks!
