what the top tank width (at its widest spot) of an early 80's CB750K or CB750F is?

No, but I'm very curious as to why you want to know.

the reason is: i have drag bars on my bike now and they hit the side of the tank, also the CB750K/F tank is alot more stream lined than the one on my CB750C. i planned on repainting the current tank if it was gonna work out anyways so......i wanted to change it out. but the more and more research i do, the more i find out that ill probably just have to go with handlebar risers instead.

goto local Home depot and fork out $5 for a tape measure.

I'm guessing he is asking that cause he would have to order the tank from someone not within driving distance..

If you have already found a seller you can contact, ask them about it maybe?

If you already have the tank or are getting it from someone within driving distance, then ofblong's advice is sound.

Try a set of stock bars from a 75-76 Honda CB400F. Like drag bars with about 1" rise.

not sure where you're coming from with this one. My bike is the CB750C, not the 750k or 750F. i have already measured my tank if that's what you're thinking of, but i thought that maybe there was somebody on here who had either of those models from the early 80's that could inform me.

i cant make the pic come on this thread. but doesn't it look to you guys that when the guy rides this bike, the handle bars will hit the tank when he turns???. i sent him an email, so hopefully ill hear back from him. any positive input would be appreciated, thanks.

Chances are there won't be enough difference in width to prevent the bars from hitting the tank, no matter which one you use. A set of risers is your best option. You could also build up the fork stops with weld so that the bars won't hit hit the tank when you turn them from side to side, but you will lose a bit of turning radius that way. Not really an issue unless you do lots of 180 slow speed turns like what the cops do, but it could be a bit of a hassle when you're trying to walk the bike out of a tight parking spot.

thanks for your reply, yeah i think im gonna just go with some risers. you bring up a good point about getting out of a tight parking spot.
