I have recently been attracted to the idea of learning to ride a 250cc or less motorcycle and it sounds like a lot of fun. However, I've been browsing through the free information on the internet and have yet to see any topic that relates to life insurance or health insurance premiums. Has anyone tried to apply for a life insurance policy and honestly reported their use of motorcyles? What was the result? How about health insurance stories? Has anyone had their rates soar, been dropped, etc... ? This is of particular interest to me since my wife and I have a 3 year old and I'm the primary earner in our family. I have been shopping for life insurance off an on for a little while, but a motorcycle seems like it would ruin any chance of affordable life insurance coverage.
Thanks in advance,

I just had a consultation this afternoon with an agent. American Income Life Insurance Company works with Pennsylvania ABATE to offer a free $2,500 Death and Dimemberment policy to its members. Of course, that means an agent is going to come and talk to you. He quoted a whole life policy for me that looked like this: Death benefit $17,164 paid within 5 days to funeral home with remainder to beneficiary. Accidental Death $70,000. Auto Death (Any vehicle including motorcycle whether driver or passenger) $90,000. Common Carrier (Plane, Train, Bus, Taxi, Etc) $150,000. Hospital Benefits for accidental injury $100 Emergency Room visit, $200 per day in hospital up to 365 and $400 per day in ICU up to 14. The quoted price was $47/month. For an additional $8/mo my wife could have coverage as well but with lower payout for the "Death Numbers". I don't know if this is high/low or good/bad. I just know that's what was quoted today. They also offer a "Health Discount" service but, it doesn't work as a supplement to insurance or as insurance. It only takes effect for things that you are uninsured for. Like if your company doesn't offer dental, the discount program might be useful.
***I am NOT an agent for AIL nor am I endorsing it. I am simply passing on the information that was provided to me.***
My health insurance and AFLAC policies were unaffected by the addition of the "M" class on my driver's license.
Good Luck, Have Fun and Stay Safe Out There!
Well, I have a really good policy that I got before starting hang gliding lessons a few years ago. That fizzled but I kept the policy so my wife is covered should I code.
In Colorado, if you have had a policy in effect for two years or longer, the insurance company can't contest anything in the event of a claim. Your state may have a similar law.
I understand the desire to be honest and all but just realize that the insurance company is really not on your side. So, factor that into your decision making process as well.
