Hello all... About 3 months ago I purchased an 07' G-SXR 750 and 3 days later I left for my final three months of duty here in Iraq. My girlfriend doesn't know much about bikes and wasn't able to get it started, thus my battery died. I will be returning in shortly and was wondering what I will need to do to get my bike back up and running. I've already got a new battery on the way, so I'm good there. But will there need to be anything else that will need to be done? (e.g. Belts, Oil, Gas, Fluids, etc., etc.)

Thanks in advance--

Pick up a battery tender, that will not only charge it for you, but keep it charged when this happens again. You should be alright with the rest, however if it's been sitting outside you might want to lube the chain for good measure.

First of all, thank you for your service! Get back home safely and enjoy ridding!

I had my bike sitting for a month w/o getting started and the battery drained too. I got a $30 charger in Home Depot and had it charged up in 8 minutes. Left it charging for a bit longer to get it more juiced up but it was ready to go in no time.

I hope the gas didn't go bad and start to plug the injectors. It seems to me the gas we're getting nowadays is less stable than it used to be. I assume your problem is battery, and you'll get it going again with the new battery - but you might want to run some injector cleaner through it?

If you park it for 3 months again, I'd put Stabil in the tank and run it through the injectors.

Hey all... Thanks for the advice, as it is greatly appreciated. The new battery is on it's way along with the charger. My fiance has gotten that cleaner for the gas, and I will lube the chain as recommended. I can tell you this is that I am EXTREMELY EXCITED to get back and ride my bike again! I only got to ride for 2 days before I had to ship back over here. Even though it was only two days, it was to AWESOME days!

Thanks for the advice everyone and I look forward to reading more of these forums!
