Yamaha FZR400 or RZ350 to start?

Hey everyone, I'm looking at a few different bikes as prospects for my first bike. I figure I should buy used since I'm just learning, and something relatively low powered. I was wondering if the bikes I mentioned in the title would be good starter bikes? I'm also noticing many of those bikes are models from the mid 80s to mid 90s. Are older bikes reliable? Or should I be looking for something newer? Thanks

Of the 2 bikes, I'd go with the FZR. The RZ is no beginer bike, it will bite you in the azz in a hurry if it comes on the pipe when your not ready for it.
