got a 2006 gsxr600, battery died on me when I left the safety light on, recharged it, rode for a while then left it on again. Batter died for a second time. After a quick jump, I rode for about 1 mile then the bike went crazy, tach gauge was jumping up and down, motor was surging, then all lights started to flash, then bike when dead. Jumped it again and keept the charge on it for about 10 minutes then drove it home without incident. Once it was off, it did not start again, just clicked revealing battery was dead again. WHy would this be. Does the bike not have an alternator that keeps the bike running and charging the batter? Why would the bike freak out on me like it did? Was this due to a dead battery? I don't understand any of this. Also, the Fi indicator stays on at all times in the display. Could this be part of the problem??? HELP!!!!!

Sounds like you just have a bad battery.

Yeah, you have a bad battery. You killed it by letting it get fully discharged twice. You might want to get a new one. My mom did the same thing with her car's battery, she let it die two or three times and it started acting weird on her, dying randomly, acting up sometimes. Get a new battery and that should fix your problem.

EDIT: You've got the name Katanaman, yet ride a Gixxer??? lol
Still confusing

Why would the alternator not keep the bike running once started even if the battery is dead.
PS I have a Katana, this is my roommates bike, the GSXR that is having problems.
Thanks

Does the bike just stop?
The alternator will keep it running so long as all the connections to the battery are still good. Otherwise it will be running on battery power until it dies.

The alternator on a Gixxer balances the load from starting and things like ignition, lights etc. Its not mean to charge a flat battery and you may be lucky if it didn't burn out the regulator/rectifier trying. It can put out about 20~30 amps for short periods (30 sec to 1 min or so) but after that the current tents to make things get hot enough to fail. Also, it wont run if voltage drops below 9.5V
