3rd pipe cold on start and bike smells fuelly?!

Hi. I have a CBR 600F and i have noticed that just after starting my bike the 2nd pipe in from the right is cold when the other three are hot...and after running it for a while it smells a bit fuelly.

The bike seems to run ok....a bit throaty sounding on the road at times but not a slug!

Could this be a plug...or lead...or worse?

help and advise on how to sort it please..:(

Sounds like that cylinder isn't firing. Best check it out.

Is there anything i myself can do or do i have to take it in somewhere and get so very stung?

You can get a spark tester:

to see if the plug is sparking.

First thing I'd do (and I'm no mechanic) is pull the spark plug in question and check its condition and the condition of the wire. I might plug the spark plug into the wire, ground it to the engine casing, and tap the starter button to see if it sparks. Or I'd just replace the plug entirely and see if that fixes it.

You could also unplug the spark plug cable *while the engine is running* and see if that changes things. If it's unchanged, you are not getting a spark in that cylinder for some reason.

Thanks for the advise. I also am no mechanic as can plainly be seen.. :? ...but i guess the smell of fuel is the fuel not being burn in the cylinder. Could this be flooding the spark...or the spark being damp?

I do have a couple spare plugs so i shall...painfully endeavour to get to the sparks ( which is no easy task on a CBR600 i have found) and change it, hoping that it will leap into a 4 cylinder life.

Any other advise or thoughts would be very much appreciated so that i can at least be full of 'ammo' when i go to a garage and not look too much like a dude with a bike that he has no idea how it works! :oops:

gas air and spark the three necesities for your engine to be happy.

spark is the easiest to check/fix normally but it could be any of them.
