Mystic Rhythms

"So many things I think about
When I look far away
Things I know - things I wonder
Things I'd like to say
The more we think we know about
The greater the unknown
We suspend our disbelief
And we are not alone --"

Rush, Mystic Rhythms (Power Windows, 1985)

The time has almost come. As I write this, there is only a little over 36 hours till I push that little red button on the right grip and roll away towards Alaska. Not going to be a long trip, only 6 days, but it's going to be fun anyway.

I've also changed my plans for the return trip. I was going to try to push it and try to get myself a BunBurner 2500k ride with another Saddlesore 1600k thrown in. That idea has been round filed. I'm now going to take a leisurely two days and ride down through central BC and enjoy the solitude and the scenery. This will also give me the necessary 'quiet time' to reflect on what I've done in my life and where I want to go with it.

Dean, I'm sure you'll understand what I mean with that last sentence. The rest of you can draw your own conclusions.

I'll post a few pics when I get back.

"It was an early morning yesterday
I was up before the dawn
And I really have enjoyed my stay
But I must be moving on"

Supertramp, Goodbye Stranger (Breakfast in America, 1979)

That's just a little south and west of my planned route. I'll be taking the 97 as far as Kamloops then the #1 East to Calgary and then home.

but thanks for the offer. If I get a chance to get out to the lower mainland again ( I was there 3 years ago) I'll give you a shout.

...and don't forget to go through Hyder and up to Salmon Glacier. It's worth the trip on the bumpy gravel road to go above it and look down. Have a great trip.

only if they fit the mood.

"Cinderella man
Doing what you can
They can't understand
What it means"

"I have memory and awareness
But I have no shape or form
As a disembodied spirit
I am dead and yet unborn"

"The sleep is still in my eyes
The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh, and sadly smile
And lie awhile in bed"

So I guess your leaving soon..

Well I hope you have a great trip, there's some great scenery on the way to and threw kamloops and the roads tend to be quite open, if I was you I would quite early so by the time you hit kamloops it wont be to early, or too late, everyone will be in work  Well if you end up coming down to the lower mainland, or go on a trip around here, I wouldn't mind meeting up with ya in the future. Have a great time bro.

That sounds like an exellent plan, Owen. Nothing like a good long ride with no pressing deadlines to give a guy a chance to think clearly. Life makes waaaay more sense on a bike anyway.

Be safe and enjoy the trip. Keep an eye open for fellow riders with more curves than ussual, ya never know what you'll find out on the road.

Next year, I may join you on whatever epic trip(or part of it) you dream up. They all seem to be bigger and better than I would come up with.

Call me when you get back, I may stop by on my way home on the 3rd or 4th if your around.
