Got an 05 Kawasaki EN 500 in October. Now winterizing -after removing seat and battery cover the battery will lift about 2" then will move no higher, so cannot remove it. Anyone know how to get it out? Is there a lever? I do not have owners or shop manual.

If I leave it in the bike with a trickle charger all winter (to minus 40 celcius) will there be any problems?

Any thoughts or tips out there?

Not sure about you're bike but on some early BMWs you had to unbolt the halfs of battery box. This was stated in manual which you need to get for you're bike. (some manuals are available at public librarys, and a few weeks ago someone posted a link to many downloadable manuals)

if you haven't disconnected the vent tube on the battery, then it could be hanging up on something. Look for a rubber tube on one end of the battery - it will just pull off the nipple that it is on on the battery.

I've got a Vulcan 500 as well. While you are pulling the battery up jiggle it around. It gets caught up on the rubber thing (breather hood?)that sits just in front of the battery. You may have to pull back on the rubber hood to slip the battery by.
