idling problems...

A while back I had some gas vent problems which I solved by disconnecting the hose to the charcoal canister. The bike worked like a charm until about 2 weeks ago.

After about 15 minutes of riding, my idle starts to get all screwed up by going really low and stuttering. I can sort of notice while I'm riding at speeds under < 40 MPH because the bike is becoming very twitchy. Just a tiny movement of the hand makes the bike leap or sometimes I can't feel the pull that I should be getting when I open the throttle.

I checked the charcoal canister and the intake hose is still connected to the charcoal canister.

When this happens, I open up the gas lid but it doesn't help all the time. Sometimes I will open it and close it and the idling problem will be fixed, but also sometimes I can do it and it returns to running poorly about 5 seconds later.

The bike has 12,000 miles.

Any help please?

It's a fuel injection.

First check to make sure that gas is good and that filters are not plugged. (I had this problem w/ my truck and it was crap in the line that clogged before filter)
Also check any vacume lines. It sounds like a pressure problem and may be a pressure regulator.(may be electrical or mechnical or vacume)

I am not too hip on FI but on this forum there are several people try to contact Wrider or Sev, but check the simple stuff first.

The air filter?

How would I check the vacuum lines? Take the tank off and maybe slide a wire through the hose?

I get the gist of the pressure regulator and all that but have no idea what to do with it...

But uh... would doing wheelies have to do anything with this? Seems like whenever I do a wheelie or two my bike starts to idle horribly.

Now I'm pretty sure I need to synch the throttle bodies. I posted on a FZ6 forum and they all think it is. I'll try that out.

Thanks for the help slimcolo!

you probably want to check the fuel filter as well

Dohan...come back from the Dark Side. :starwars:

Maybe your bike is saying "STOP DOING WHEELIES!".

xD

Don't worry... I think I'm a very safe wheelie-er...

Anyways the problem was a faulty TPS ( Throttle position sensor).

Bike's good to go. :D
