I’m 37 and for the past 3 years I’ve been thinking, on and off, about getting a bike. Mostly talk and a little research during the years. But now, all of a sudden, for the past 5 months I’ve got this huge desire to ride. I don’t know if it’s the early stages of a mid life crises :humm: or just a hidden desire that’s been slowly brewing, but I’ve got to the point now that I’ve decided to save some money and use my tax returns to get a starter bike.

I’ve been taking the time to research which bike would be best for me to start with. And I’ve decided on the 08’ Honda Rebel 250. It’s cheep for a new bike and according to your forum, the Rebel forum and some youtube videos it’s a great starter bike.

I’ve found “Total Motorcycle Forums” to be very helpful. :hooray: It has helped me answer some basic questions. Such as helmets, and safety. I even found a forum here on the best way to pump gas. It’s true that there are no stupid questions. :what?!:

Everyone seems to have a lot of fun asking and answering questions here. I know I’m going to have a lot of questions too. I look forward to joining in on the conversations.

Welcome to the site Orion9...

Sounds like you have a good sensible plan laid out, good luck with your purchase. I would like to suggest that your very first purchase should be a set of lessons from your local MSF course provider...

Trident Technical College in North Charleston has a Beginners Class, Intermediate Class and an Experienced class. I plan to take them all.

I've driven by one Saturday and saw some of the students practicing on their bikes. :biker:

Thanks

Welcome a board and enjoy the site. I just got back in to riding myself this last June and I love every minute of it and I just kick myself for not getting back into it sooner.

First of all, :welcome2:
Second, the Rebel is a good choice for a first bike, if you need to keep your costs down look for a used one.
Third, you can't be having a mid-life crisis, you're too young!

Hi Orion9

Welcome to the site.

Don't mind Zed - you can have a mid-life crisis at any age. If you do it now at 37 then you might have time for another one ten years on (snowboarding perhaps?) Just think of the possibilities.

Or, you could make it last...

I've been having mine for the last fifteen years. Make it a habit!

Enjoy the forums

Hey I am 33 and I have been back and forth on getting a bike for a while and I just finally said to myself that I am going to do it now or never. I still didn't get a bike of my own, but I am having a blast learning to ride and can't wait to pull the trigger on my first bike. You will find lots of help and information at this site.
