Best dual-sport for street use?

DR650 or KLR 650? Is there a lowering kit available for either bike? I would like a light, rugged bike for mostly commuting to work. I might hit the odd dirt road here and there, but the bike will get mostly street work. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

The KLR, from what I've seen around the net.

The '08 is a nice looking bike. I wonder how much it can be lowered?

Lowering kits are available that will drop the rear end by up to 3". You lose a bit of your suspension travel, as well as some of the carrying capacity of the bike when you do this though.

I think I can live with both of those things. Thanks for the info!

Goat!!!

The KLRis cheaper and better on the street and the DR is more powerful and better in the dirt.
