Riding in Mexico

#1 Unread post by feliz »

I'd like to take a vacation in Mexico soon and just had a brain-wave about making it a biking vacation. I wouldn't want to ride down this time of year but does anyone know if you can rent bikes anywhere in Mexico and if so is it safe to ride. I've rented cars (VW bug convertibles) there and always found it a bit hairy but I'm still here so.... Any advice/tips/stories would be useful. TIA.

I'm sorry I can't remember the name, but there was a business handing out discounts for rental's in Mexico at the Fraser Valley Toy Run. It was a new company but seemed very enthusiastic about moving to Mexico to work...

If I remember the name I will post it...

EDIT: AmigoMoto.com

Based out of Guadalajara, They rent V-Stroms. Bare bones rentals or fully guided tours...

Thanks Dr. Maybe I'll see them at the show in a couple weeks.

DR., I just noticed your edit, I must of missed it the first time. I'll get a hold of them, thanks.

Was that your Rocket I always saw at the show and shines in Maple Ridge last summer? I'm in Coquitlam also, near Coquitlam Center. I was out for a ride on Duc today and got a speeding ticket on Guilford, damn.

Feliz

I've read a couple of motorcycle travel books recently, and from what I can make out from them Mexico sounds like a great place to ride. Quite fancy it myself.

A buddy of mine took a trip from Denver, CO into Mexico with his BMW and had a great time. If he ever uploads the trip report, it will be at 2wheels2boots.com.

Here is a link to an intersting site I have been checking out this morning. It includes tales of Mexico and beyond:
