hey,

im trying to take the risers off my suzuki marauder and im having an issue figuring it out. i can take the lower nuts off that hold the handlebars and actually get the bars off the bike but cant figure out how the risers stay on. i was told by someone at suzuki that the risers should just slide off but this is no easy task. i can wiggle them in a turning way but they dont slide down.

i really dont have much leverage no less while holding the bars loose in my hand trying to wiggle off the risers. i can see the long bolts coming through the bottom and see what looks like some sort of nut in there but i seriously doubt that has to be touched. i wish i had a close up pic to show but i really dont. on the risers i can see it says "thorsten" but a search doesnt show me anything. any help appreciated

Well.. generally risers have bolts that come in from the bottom, don't they?

Edit - More specific: The bolt which screws directly through the top triple tree and into the bottom of the riser is what holds it on.

yeah but i dont have anything small enough like a very very thin socket to try to turn the nuts just above bolts. it just doesnt seem like that has to turn since the nuts im referring to are recessed.

the only picture i could give you right now is this:

< that being my face because i got the risers off. i just had to get a nice size vice grip and turn the actual risers and they came off rather easily.
thank god. i dont know how the previous owner dealt with the little flex in the handlebars with all those damn extra washers added on in addition to the risers. not to mention it looks a hell of alot cooler the original way.
