So I've been getting serious about a Speedtriple but there was an '07 Z1000 that came up for sale here with barely any km. on the clock. It's looks a little too star wars and the exhaust would be punted within minutes of entering my garage but the price is tempting. I have ridden the previous version and liked it although it suffered from vibes (supposedly fixed for '07), and 190 section tire disease ( I'd swap it with a 180 as soon as it was shot). So has anyone ridden the '07? I'm thinkin' of keeping the VFR for touring but am looking for a raunchy bike to replace the VTR1000. Any thoughts?

Well, it wouldn't have the midrange torque the Speed Triple would... but it's still a hot bike! I definitely like em. Downright mean streetfighter look to em.

Yep, the Speedy is still where I'm leaning but Triumph Canada really doesn't want to sell To Canadians. I've whined enough about this on the boards already. Now I'm just looking at the other options.

Too late. After 11 seasons I sold the bike that I thought that I would never sell. I just didn't ride it much this year and there was no point in keeping it around. If I had a big garage I would have kept it, but it was time for a new toy......otherwise I would have donated it had I known you were interested

The not available in Canada Z750 looks much better in many ways, (but I would still punt the pipe). I can't buy it, just thought that I would post it for the hell of it.....

I'm probably the only one that thinks so, but I think the Z1000 is much nicer looking than the Speed Triple!

I like the Speed Triple for the torquey 3-cylinder and 40 lbs less weight. But not sure I like enough to cover the $1300 price difference over the Z1000. Never sat on a Z1000, the Speed Triples I've sat on were seductively comfortable... You're right, that can on the Z1000 has GOTTA go!!

I also like the Z1000 styling more than the Speed Triple. The ST looks great but I just don't like the headlights.

The entire exhaust on the Z1000 looks out of place. Almost as if it was tacked on as an afterthought. Bleh.

the Z's have had ugly exhaust like that for a few years. They've had little changes from year to year (re the exhaust) but still uggo in the end.
