Oil Light Problem, HELP

I have a1992 Yamaha Seca II and when it is cold or on the side stand the oil pressure light is on. A dealer told me not to worry about it that they put weak oil pressure gauges on the bike, but I feel there has to be a better reason. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions?
